| This week's assignment for Lindsay was Still Life. We covered depth of field and composition (rule of thirds) two very often hard-to-grasp concepts. Lindsay listens carefully, asks great questions, then goes out and viola! she has the shots. We're especially excited for her because she will be upgrading her camera to the not-yet-released Rebel XTi next month. If she can get these kinds of shots with a powershot...imagine what she'll get with a "real" camera... LINDSAY'S STILL LIFE....
PLEASE COMMENT...LINDSAY WILL BE LOOKING FOR YOUR FEEDBACK... thanks.
| We have a new student this week, and as usual we started her out with our favorite assignment "24." We ask our students to pick one object and take 24 differents pictures of it. It's an exercize in exploring alternate ways of looking at a single object, or finding something interesting in it that you may not have seen otherwise. It's easy to capture an image of something that is inherently interesting, but to look for an image within that object is another challenge altogether. She chose an old truck down the road which we've used many times before. I believe she did a great job in this assignment. Lindsay (age 16) has a great eye, and has no problem putting her little Canon Powershot to good use...
We'd love to hear your comments and will pass them along to Lindsay.
| Most recently we had James and Cassidy delight us with their participation in our photo class. I was amazed at how quickly they learned and put into practice the simple techniques we introduced to them. With the exception of some cropping, all the following images are straight out of camera...no post-processing has been applied (that would be a different class altogether). Here are samples of their work for you to enjoy... CASSIDY'S PHOTO ESSAY...

They did a fine job...we were very pleased with the results.
| Our last assignment for the girl's was to shoot a Photo Essay....in other words, tell a story with pictures. They both loved this assignment, and we were all very excited with their results. So, here are our star students with their final projects...(the enlargements are below)
thanks for being a part of it with us. *********************************************************** (Again, we chose to blur out the faces for privacy reasons.) Rachel's: Time Began In a Garden (Fioli Garden Tour)

Feel free to comment..the girls read this and have really benefited from the comments.
| This assignment was pretty challenging for our students. The task was to take a photo that would stir or illustrate an emotion, without using a face in the photo. Rachel and Ruby would love to hear your thoughts.... RACHEL...
